Q. What is hypnosis?

A. Hypnosis is the natural state of concentration and heightened awareness brought about by relaxation.

Q. What is hypnotherapy?

A. Hypnotherapy is a combination of techniques including suggestion, analytical, relaxation and visualisation used to bring about the positive change.

Q. Why should I choose you as my therapist?

A. I am an experienced and sympathetic, non judgemental therapist, affiliated to a professional body which has a strict code of ethics to which I adhere, so no matter how private or embarrassing your problem may be, it will be treated with respect.

Q. Will I be under your control and influence?

A. No - hypnosis is a voluntary state which you can leave whenever you want. You are fully aware of what is happening at all times.

Q. What if I never come out of hypnosis?

A. You will, its not possible to get stuck in hypnosis.

Q. You won't be able to hypnotise me, my mind is too strong.

A. Concentration is essential for hypnosis so having a strong mind will actually be of benefit to you and will help you focus. Hypnosis is a voluntary state, you have to want to be hypnotised for it to work.

Q. Will I be unconscious or asleep?

A. No, recent research suggests you will be highly focussed and aware. But at the same time extremely relaxed.

Q. When I am hypnotised, how will I feel and will I know what is happening to me?

While under hypnosis, you are in a very relaxed and pleasant state. You will be in a heightened mental state and your awareness of the situation will probably be greater than normal.

Q. Will I say something embarassing or reveal my deepest secrets ?

A. Not usually, only if you want to!
